Green Chemistry in Agriculture

Luis Ceron is a Formulation and Quality Control Chemist at ICL Group, where he develops and optimizes liquid and dry fertilizers, as well as biostimulants, ensuring products meet the highest standards for quality, performance, and regulatory compliance. His work combines formulation science with analytical chemistry to deliver innovative crop nutrition solutions that support sustainable agriculture.

Luis earned his B.S. in Chemical Sciences with an emphasis in Materials Chemistry from the University of California, Merced, and his M.S. in Chemistry from California State University, Fresno. His master's research evaluated the photodegradation of phenylurea herbicides using computational chemistry, reflecting his passion for applying chemistry to address environmental and agricultural challenges.

As a 2026 Nuffield International Scholar, Luis is leading the research project, "Green Chemistry in Agriculture.” Through this project, he is exploring how greener chemistries can be integrated into fertilizers and biostimulants by learning from raw material suppliers, manufacturers, researchers, distributors, and farmers around the world.

His goal is to bridge the gap between raw material suppliers, manufacturers, and ultimately the farmer, helping transform scientific innovation into practical, sustainable solutions that improve crop nutrition while reducing environmental impact. He believes the future of agriculture will be driven by collaboration, innovation, and the continued advancement of green chemistry.
